June 21, 2013 TO LEA Superintendents Technology Directors NC Wise Coordinators FROM Philip W. Price POWERSCHOOL MAINTENANCE The maintenance weekend for PowerSchool that was set for today, June 21, through Sunday, June 23, has been postponed until Friday, June 28 at 5 p.m. The newly scheduled maintenance weekend will end on Monday evening, July 1. The reason for this maintenance weekend delay is that Pearson has postponed release of PowerSchool Version 7.8 until June 25. Originally, Version 7.8 was scheduled for release on June 20. Pearson opted to postpone in order to provide a better quality product for all customers. This version is a pivotal release that is required for North Carolina to go live with PowerSchool. The NCDPI will issue a communication to you as soon as the June 28-July 1 maintenance weekend is successfully completed and as soon as PowerSchool Version 7.8 becomes available. Other activities of deployment and application integration depend on our successful PowerSchool launch. For your information, below are lists of features in the new PowerSchool release and other key deployment dates. All projections are based on PowerSchool Release 7.8 and a successful data migration. As we move through the June 28-July 1 maintenance weekend and other implementation activities, we will keep you updated about any timeline changes. PowerSchool 7.8 Release will include: Principals Monthly Report/Grade/Race/Sex (PMR/GRS) – state reporting Home Base Single Sign On with PowerSchool, SchoolNet and Truenorthlogic (LDAP integration is coming later via the Identity Access Management initiative) Ability to integrate with eScholar Single UID for Itinerant Teachers OFFICE OF FINANCIAL, BUSINESS, AND TECHNOLOGY SERVICES Philip W.
