Kirkwood students perform in five musical concerts each semester, one or two of which feature nationally known guest artists. Plus, Kirkwood stages three large-scale theatre productions every year. Depending on where you want to transfer and what you want to study, you can earn an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Sciences degree in Liberal Arts, an Associate of Applied Science degree or take only the classes you need to transfer. Students who earn Associate of Applied Science degrees usually go straight into the workforce; however, some of these programs have transfer agreements with four-year institutions. Graphic Communication Technology 2-year AAS degree | Potential Careers: Graphic designer, advertising agent Develop your practical knowledge and get hands-on experience with current standards in graphic communication. Learn design, layout, image manipulation and illustration principles to apply to final graphics used in 2D design, print, Web and motion graphics, plus receive extensive experience working on Apple computers using industry-standard software from Adobe. Web Technologies 2-year AAS degree | Potential Careers: Web designer, digital developer Begin with a set of basic courses covering HTML and CSS, Web media, and introductory computer and programming skills. Then, learn various aspects of Web design and development through courses emphasizing the workflow associated with the planning process, site design and the use of standard technologies, such as content management systems, to provide client solutions. See the business side of Web development through courses in marketing and e-commerce, learning about current topics such as Web analytics and search engine optimization along with payments, catalogs and shopping carts.
