Lecture Dr. Azar Nafisi
The UD community will host Dr. Azar Nafisi, the highly acclaimed
author of Reading Lolita in Tehran, which spent 117 weeks on The New York
Times best-seller list. The book illustrates her experience as a woman and a
professor in the beginning of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. She continues to
publish articles, memoirs, and other works based on literature and culture and
the effects of culture on individuals. She is currently the executive director of
Cultural Conversations at the Foreign Policy Institute of John Hopkins
University’s School of Advanced International Students in Washington, DC.

Study Abroad Showcase
Students will have the opportunity to meet Study Abroad Ambassadors,
Program Coordinators, and representatives from Career Services and learn
about many different experiences and gather information so they can sign
up for a program in the future.

Global Music Hour:
Join the Institute for Global Studies in celebrating International
Education though musical performances by Vocal Point.

International Food Festival & Cultural Game Night
Residence Life’s Cultural Language Partner Program (CLP) will host a night
of exploring various international food made by our own UD students from
their home countries, sharing popular games from their cultures, and CLP
students will present a project they have developed through participation
in the program. The students will host this event in the George Read North
Lounge Wednesday evening and will teach UD international and domestic
students about a variety of cultures.

Speaker Coach Luma Mufleh
International Education Week will kick-off with speaker Coach
Luma Mufleh to share the inspirational story of her journey
helping young refugees from all over the globe learn the
strength of a team, depicted in the bestselling book, Outcasts
United.
ELI and Residence Life annual international Talent and Fashion show. The
event will begin with the Talent show and cultural displays from countries
around the world by international and domestic students from 5-7pm,
followed by the fashion show of cultural clothing from 7-9pm. Prizes will be
raffled off throughout the evening.

International Education Week Closing Reception
A reception will be held to close International Education week for staff, faculty
and administrators. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served; and
Fulbright Faculty and Salzburg Seminar Participants will be recognized, Janet
Louise who has dedicated over 25 years to international education at the
ELI in China and Japan, along with Dr. Lesa Griffiths, former director of the
Institute for Global Studies.
