FOR357/557 Map Rubric to be used in map grading. These will determine a
percentage of the total number of points allocated for the map in the Exercise.
1. The Graphic Map (Total of 50%)
1.1. Map has a border or some other method that defines the map (10%)
1.2. White space distribution is acceptable (5%)
1.3. Map is balanced (5%)
1.4. Use of color is acceptable (5%)
1.5. Objects (N arrow, legend, etc.) are of appropriate size (10%)
1.6. Neatlines are used to organize map components (or not, as needed) (5%)
1.7. Map is graphically good (10%)
2. Other Aspects of map (total of 50%)
2.1. Title present (brief and descriptive) (5%)
2.2. Legend present (20%)
2.2.1. Features of concern that actually appear in the map)
2.2.2. Legend elements do not touch the legend Neatline
2.2.3. Legend text is descriptive and not a file name
2.3. Scale Bar (10%)
2.4. North Arrow (10%)
2.5. Credits (your name, date of map, etc.) (5%)
3. Features that may be required
3.1. Metadata (source, projection, datum, etc.)
3.2. Tables and Graphics, if required
