In May 2015, the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment ran a list of students that had been
enrolled at Metropolitan Community College during fall 2014 and did not return by census date in spring
2015. This list was sent to the National Student Clearinghouse to determine if the students has enrolled
at a different institution.
Overall, there were 7,066 students that did not return to MCC in spring 2015. Of this number, 796 were
graduates, 1,069 transferred without completing their degree at MCC and 5,201 were stop outs. Stop
outs are students that are not enrolled at any institution the subsequent semester.

There were 796 students in this population that graduated from MCC in fall 2014. Of these graduates,
464 did not transfer to another institution after graduation. 173 of the students (22% up from 20% fall
2013) did enroll at another institution in spring 2015, and 159 enrolled only at MCC.
The majority of these students were at UMKC (53), followed by UCM (50), Park (21), and Missouri
Western (8). This is the same order as fall 2013 and fall 2012.

Of the 173 graduates from fall 2014 that transferred, 53 (31%) transferred to UMKC in spring 2015. This
included 10 from Blue River, 1 from Business and Technology, 12 from Longview, 20 Maple Woods, and
10 from Penn Valley. The gender distribution - 36 were female (68%) and 17 were male (32%). The
average age was 23.96 and the average GPA was 3.12. Also, 20 received a Pell Grant in fall 2014 (38%)
and 43 were in district residents. Finally, 39 (74%) were Caucasian and 14 (26%) were non-white.

UCM
For University of Central Missouri, there were 50 students who graduated from MCC and transferred to
UCM in spring 2015. This included 7 from Blue River, 1 from Business & Technology, 28 from Longview, 8
from Maple Woods, and 6 from Penn Valley. In the gender distribution, 29 were female (58%) and 21
were male (42%). The average age was 25.34 and the average GPA was 3.12. Also, 20 received a Pell
Grant in fall 2014 (40%) and 36 were in district residents. Finally, 40 (80%) were Caucasian and 10 (20%)
were non-white.

Park University had 21 students who graduated from MCC and transferred in spring 2015. Two was from
Blue River, 2 from Longview, 14 from Maple Woods, and 3 from Penn Valley. For gender, 12 were
female (57%) and 9 were male (43%). The average age was 24.19 and the average GPA was 3.16. Also,
9 received a Pell Grant in fall 2014 and 14 were in district residents. Finally, 16 (76%) were Caucasian
and 5 (23%) were non-white.

Missouri Western University had 8 students who graduated from MCC and enrolled in spring 2015. Of
these, 1 from Longview and 7 from Maple Woods. Of this group, 8 earned Associate in Arts degrees (2
of these were in Teaching and 1 in Business). The gender distribution had 5 were female (63%) and 3
were male (37%). The average age was 26 and the average GPA was 2.98. Also, 2 received a Pell Grant
in fall 2014 and 4 were in district residents. Finally, 10 (91%) were Caucasian and 1 (9%) was non-white.

There were 159 students that graduated from MCC in fall 2014 and returned for classes in spring 2015.
Of these, 28 were from Blue River, 40 from Business & Technology, 34 from Longview, 33 from Maple
Woods, and 24 from Penn Valley. The gender distribution had 82 were female (52%) and 77 were male
(48%). The average age was 29.98 and the average GPA was 3.11. Also, 79 received a Pell Grant in fall
2014 and 133 were in district residents. Finally, 112 (70%) were Caucasian and 40 (30%) were nonwhite.

institution in spring 2015. Of these, 63 were from Blue River, 52 from Business & Technology, 102 from
Longview, 105 from Maple Woods, and 142 from Penn Valley. The gender distribution had 239 were
female (52%) and 225 were male (48%). The average age was 29.72 and the average GPA was 2.98.
Also, 174 received a Pell Grant in fall 2014 and 374 were in district residents. Finally, 317 (68%) were
Caucasian and 147 (32%) were non-white.

different institution. Of this group, 2,831 (54%) were female and 2,370 (46%) were male. The average
age was 26.49 and average cumulative GPA was 2.48. Sixty-one percent (3,186) students were

Next Steps
In fall 2015, the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment will send another list to the National
Student Clearinghouse to determine which students that were enrolled in spring 2015 did not return fall
2014. The Stop Out and Transfer Report will be completed every regular semester to track where MCC
students attend after leaving MCC. Also, note that this research does not track students that are taking
classes simultaneously at MCC and at another institution.
