Stop Out and Transfer Report Spring 2012 – Run in fall 2012 Office of Institutional Research and Assessment December 5, 2012 In October 2012, the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment ran a list of students that had been enrolled at Metropolitan Community College during spring 2012 and did not return by census date in fall 2012. This list was sent to the National Student Clearinghouse to determine if the students has enrolled in at a different institution. The list was returned on November 28, 2012, and the results are listed below. Overall, there were 8,958 students that did not return to MCC in fall 2012. Of this number, 1,050 were graduates (859 from spring 2012 and 191 from summer 2012), 394 (38%) transferred after graduation and 4 enrolled at MCC. There were 1,888 that transferred without completing their degree at MCC, 169 started at MCC and withdrew and 5,851 were stop outs. Stop outs are students that are not enrolled at any institution the subsequent semester. Of these graduates, 555 did not transfer to another institution after graduation. 300 of the students (35%) did enroll at another institution in fall 2012 and 4 enrolled at MCC. There were 191 students that graduated from MCC in summer 2012. Of this number, 97 did not transfer to another institution and 94 (49%) did enroll at another institution in fall 2012. Combining these semesters, there were 1,050 graduates and 394 (37%) enrolled at another institution in fall 2012. The majority of these students were at UMKC (132), followed by UCM (80), Park (46), and Missouri Western (18). This included 29 from Blue River, 51 from Longview, 25 Maple Woods, and 27 from Penn Valley. From the 132 students, 110 earned Associate in Arts degrees (1 Criminal Justice, 3 Business and 4 Teaching), 1 Associate in Computer Science, 3 earned an AAS in Business, 5 Associate in Engineering and 4 Associate in Science-Biology. There was AAS degrees: 1 Graphic Design, 1 Paralegal Practice, and 6 Professional Nursing. Finally, there was 1 Dental Assisting Certificate. The gender distribution - 82 were female (62%) and 50 were male (38%). The average age was 24.96 and the average GPA was 3.08. Also, 59 received a Pell Grant in spring 2012 (45%) and 117 were in district residents. Finally, 85 (64%) were Caucasian and 47 (36%) were non-white. UCM For University of Central Missouri, there were 80 students who graduated from MCC and transferred to UCM in fall 2012. This included 22 from Blue River, 1 from BTC, 43 from Longview, 7 from Maple Woods, and 7 from Penn Valley. Of this group, 70 earned Associate in Arts degrees (1 Criminal Justice, 5 Business and 6 Teaching), 1 Associate in Engineering and 1 Associate in Science-Biology. There was AAS degrees: 1 Graphic Design, 1 Child Growth & Development, 2 Paralegal Practice, 2 Professional Nursing, and 2 INTE. In the gender distribution, 47 were female (59%) and 33 were male (41%). The average age was 25 and the average GPA was 3.19. Also, 23 received a Pell Grant in spring 2012 (29%) and 65 were in district residents. Finally, 63 (79%) were Caucasian and 17 (21%) were non-white. PARK Park University had 46 students who graduated from MCC and transferred in fall 2012. Five were from Blue River, 5 from Longview, 31 from Maple Woods, and 5 from Penn Valley. Of this group, 42 earned Associate in Arts degrees (5 Business and 6 Teaching) and 1 Associate in Engineering. There was AAS degrees in 1 Graphic Design, 1 Business, and 1 Paralegal Practice. For gender, 23 were female (50%) and 23 were male (50%). The average age was 25.4 and the average GPA was 3.20. Also, 20 received a Pell Grant in spring 2012 and 38 were in district residents. Finally, 33 (72%) were Caucasian and 13 (28%) were non-white. Missouri Western Missouri Western University had 18 students who graduated from MCC and enrolled in fall 2012. Of these, 1 was from Blue River, 4 were from Longview, 11 from Maple Woods, and 2 from Penn Valley. Of this group, 17 earned Associate in Arts degrees (3 of these were in Teaching), and 1 CSIS AAS. The gender distribution had 13 were female (72%) and 5 were male (28%). The average age was 24.38 and the average GPA was 3.16. Also, 9 received a Pell Grant in spring 2012 and 14 were in district residents. Finally, 12 (67%) were Caucasian and 6 (33%) were non-white. 3 Missouri State Missouri State University had 13 students who graduated from MCC and enrolled in fall 2012. Of these, 2 were from Blue River, 5 were from Longview, 3 from Maple Woods, and 3 from Penn Valley. Of this group, 12 earned Associate in Arts degrees (3 Business and 1 Teaching), and 1 AAS in Business. The gender distribution had 4 were female (31%) and 9 was male (69%). The average age was 24.2 and the average GPA was 2.99. Also, 3 received a Pell Grant in spring 2012 and 11 were in district residents. Finally, 9 (69%) were Caucasian and 4 (31%) were non-white. MU University of Missouri - Columbia had 12 students who graduated from MCC and enrolled in fall 2012. Of these, 3 were from Blue River, 3 were from Longview, 5 from Maple Woods, and 1 from Penn Valley. Of this group, 10 earned Associate in Arts degrees, 1 Associate in Science-Biology and 1 AAS degrees Automotive Technology. The gender distribution had 6 were female (50%) and 6 were male (50%). The average age was 21.8 and the average GPA was 3.18. Also, 3 received a Pell Grant in spring 2012 and 11 were in district. Finally, 11 (92%) were Caucasian and 1 (8%) was non-white. There were 652 students that graduated from MCC in spring 2012 and summer 2012 and did not take classes at another institution in fall 2012.
