Cambridge International Diploma in Project Management (7692/7648)
What is accreditation and Associate Partner status?
All centres providing the Diploma in Project Management must be accredited by CIE and become
Associate Partners of CIE.
How do I register for Project Management?
To become a registered centre you must complete a registration form, available from Customer
Services. CIE will then inform you whether an inspection of your centre is necessary and the
appropriate fees which are payable. Once you are registered with us you will be sent the
Administrative Guide and the CD ROM Administrative Support Pack.
Once I am registered, how do I enter candidates for Project Management?
There is no pre-entry needed for candidates taking Project Management. Final Entry is made
with submission of a candidate’s first assignment. Assignments should be sent in, with Student
Assessment Records (SARs) and module entries.
What documentation should I receive?
Once your entry has been processed you will receive a Statement of Entry detailing the individual
candidate entry details. This provides an opportunity to correct any errors that may exist in your
entry.
When does Assessment of Project Management take place?
The assessments are offered on-demand. This means that you can send in candidates’
assignments for assessment on a monthly basis throughout the year. Details of the closing dates
for receipt of assignments each month are given in the Administrative Guide (Section D).
At what times in the year can we enter candidates for this Award?
There are monthly deadlines for submitting assignments during the year. Once you have
submitted assignments and Student Assessment Records to CIE you should normally receive the
results in about 8 weeks.
How long does it take from receipt of assignments until we receive results?
You will receive a statement of results for each assignment entry. It takes 8 weeks from the entry
cut-off date to the despatch of results to centres. Results despatch dates are given in the
Administrative Guide (Section D).
How do candidates qualify for certificates?
Candidates will be issued with the Cambridge International Diploma in Project Management upon
successful completion of all three assignments. Certificates will be issued automatically.
Do candidates have to take the modules in sequential order? Can they only go on to the
next module once they have passed the first?
Candidates have to take the modules in sequential order as the assignments follow the stages of
the project. However we are happy to receive assignments 1 and 2 together, and once these
have been passed candidates should submit assignment 3. Some candidates, however, submit
all three assignments together. Assignment 2 can pass even if assignment 1 fails, but both must
pass before assignment 3 can be assessed.
Can candidates choose a project which they contribute to, even if they are not the overall
leader or manager?
There is no problem in candidates being part of a project team. This is normal. In this particular
instance it is vital that the project organisational diagrams in assignment 2 are very clear and
indicate exactly what the candidate’s project input is, and how that relates to the overall
management process in terms of line and function.

Does the project have to be a current one?
It is acceptable that projects up to 2 years old (from start-up) are used as the assessment vehicle.
What if the project doesn’t come to a conclusion before finishing the course?
In the case of a project continuing after the period of the course, the student must identify an
appropriate project phase that has a recognised outcome. This can then be used to produce the
handover evidence in assignment 3.
I have the support CD ROM but can’t print from it.
The CD ROM is designed to be given to each individual candidate and should be used on-screen.
It is not possible to print or copy the text.
