The young man began the day in a hurry and in a bad mood. He knew he was going to have to
rush today to get his assignment handed in on time. He had worked halfway through the night
to get it finished. He had gone to bed thinking it was in his notebook inside his bag, but the next
morning it wasn’t there. He spent a frantic hour looking for it, but still could not find it.
“Have you checked inside your notebooks and in your college bag?” his mother asked.
“Of course I have!” he replied angrily.
“Well, I will just check them anyway,” she said, disappearing out of the room.
“That won’t do any good,” he replied, now pulling the contents of his cupboard onto the floor. He
stamped his foot in annoyance and yelled as he stepped on a stapler. His mother walked back into
the room.
“I’ve looked absolutely everywhere,” he mumbled.
“Not quite everywhere,” she replied quietly, waving the assignment in her hand. “This was in the
side pocket of your bag.”
