Provide Critical Attic Intake
Ventilation With A…
Rooftop
Intake Vent
Many homes in North America have
inadequate attic ventilation systems, which
can often be attributed to the lack of proper
attic intake ventilation. Failing to properly
install intake ventilation can render your attic
ventilation system virtually useless.
Intake ventilation lets cool, fresh air into the
system, while exhaust ventilation (typically
a ridge vent) allows moist, warm air to
exhaust from the attic. Unfortunately, proper
intake ventilation is often overlooked by
siding, gutter, or painting contractors who
typically work in the soffit/undereave areas
of your home. In addition, Cape Cod-style
homes without soffits, soffits with clogged
or painted-over vents, and vented roof deck
systems are challenging to ventilate without
expensive modifications.

A properly balanced attic ventilation system consisting
of both Cobra® IntakePro™ Rooftop Intake Vent and
exhaust vents will help:
• Promote your home’s energy efficiency by allowing cool,
fresh air to enter your attic, driving moist, warm air out
• Add critical intake ventilation to
homes with little or no soffits
• Boost the airflow of your attic ventilation
system when used with existing soffit
undereave vents
Hot, stale air
• Guard against ice damming in harsh
exhausts through
the Cobra Ridge Vent
winter climates
• Prevent premature
roof system
deterioration and
limit the growth
Cool, fresh air enters through the
Cobra IntakePro Rooftop Intake Vent
of harmful mold

**See GAF Shingle & Accessory Ltd. Warranty for complete coverage and restrictions. The word “Lifetime” refers to
the length of coverage provided by the GAF Shingle & Accessory Ltd. Warranty and means as long as the original
individual owner(s) of a single-family detached residence [or the second owner(s) in certain circumstances]

criteria, Lifetime coverage is not applicable. Lifetime Ltd. Warranty on accessories requires the use of at least

***Under GAF controlled laboratory testing
Balanced ventilation requires an equal amount of intake ventilation
and exhaust ventilation. GAF recommends, at a minimum, providing
1 square foot of Net Free Ventilation for every 300 square feet of attic
floor space. Consult local building codes for specific ventilation
requirements in your area.
1. Calculate the total square footage of the attic floor area (round
up to the next highest number). This number will determine the
minimum total lineal feet of Cobra® IntakePro™ Rooftop Intake
Vent that is needed.
2. Find the appropriate amount of Cobra® IntakePro™ Rooftop Intake
Vent and minimum exhaust ventilation that corresponds to the total
attic square footage.
