or control of tourism.
APATHY
Tourism expands; tourists taken for granted; contact
between local people and tourists becomes more
commercial and formal; marketing of the destination.
ANNOYANCE
Saturation point approaches; further expansion of
tourist facilities; local people express concerns about
the impacts of tourism on their lives; much promotion
of the destination.
ANTAGONISM
Irritation and annoyance openly expressed; conflicts
occur; local people see tourists as the cause of all
their problems; attempts to overcome a decline in the
destination’s reputation.
