The institution where the animals will be housed/used may require independent review of the
procedures by their Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee or equivalent.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) may be required with the offsite institution that clearly
describes the animals’ monitoring and care requirements, transportation, payment arrangements,
etc. The MOU must be endorsed by both the UCI Campus Veterinarian and a responsible party
for the offsite institution. Please contact the IACUC Administrative Office for help in developing
this document.

An offsite research agreement, subcontract or other formal agreement may also be required. For
more information, please contact the Contract and Grant Officer assigned to your department in
