POEM ANALYSIS
1)
Read the poem at least twice. Write down any words that you do not understand. Look up
and write definitions for any words that you do not understand.
2)
Write out a 5-10 line plot summary or content summary.
3)
Find 5 different spots where the poet created distinct moods. Describe the mood and
quote the lines where you believe each mood is found.
4)
Find 5 - 7 stylistic devices (eg. symbols, alliteration, assonance, etc.) that were used
effectively. State their purpose (eg. mood, theme, characterization, etc.)
5)
What do you think the theme(s) is?
6)
Was the theme communicated clearly?
7)
State your opinion of the poem.
