Macbeth Summative Assignment
Complete the following tasks:
1. Slideshow Presentation
With a partner, and in consultation with your teacher, choose a part of the play (eg. an Act) for
which you will identify aspects (character, images, conflict) that can be related to the hero/quest
pattern that we have explored in class. Create a slideshow or storyboard to demonstrate how the
hero pattern applies to the part of the play you have worked on. Play a related clip of the film –

2. Creative
Choose one of the following options:
a. Write an additional scene of at least 30 lines. You do not need to use Elizabethan
English, but you need to clearly incorporate three aspects of the play (a choice of
characters, poetic language, imagery, etc.) into your writing. In addition to the scene,
add a short explanation in which you point out the aspects of the play that you have
tied in. You complete this option as an individual.
b. Create a written and visual portrait of a Macbeth character. Include a paragraph that
explains relevant history, strengths, weaknesses, special skills, symbols and other
relevant information. Create a colour illustration of your character. You complete
this option as an individual.
c. Create a “spoof” or skit based on an existing scene of the play. It must follow the hero
pattern. You can film this or write a script to act out in class as part of a group.
