Presentation Your Written Component will include: • • • Introduction (describe the book title, author, a brief plot description and a thesis: Characters in the novel _________ overcome huge obstacles in their lives through ______________________ and ___________________.) A two paragraph analysis of the question - How do characters overcome huge obstacles in their lives? – including 4 fully integrated and cited quotations (two per paragraph) Conclusion (summarize your argument and give a recommendation either to read or to avoid the book and explain why) Use proper paragraph form and specific references to the plot, characters, and conflict in the story. Your presentation will include: Capture Technique – find a poem that relates to a theme (central idea) or topic discussed in your novel. Explain how the poem relates to your novel. Point out any literary devices used in your poem. Talk about the effect of the literary devices on the meaning of your poem. Introduction – introduce the plot of the novel, talk about your author and any other works that they might have done, tell what you will be talking about in your presentation Character Analysis - Describe the main characters (minimum 2 characters) with at least one example of a character trait. Conflict: Describe a problem that your character must overcome in the novel. How does your character overcome this problem? What is the result for the character in the novel? Group Task Roles Completion of these roles is your formative work for this assignment. Character Tracker: for this role you will examine the major characters of your novel. Find character traits for your main characters and explain how these traits show what sort of character these people really are. You need to prove yourself with quotations. Conflict Master: For this role you will be examining two different conflicts that take place in the section of the novel. For each come up with one quotation per conflict and explain how this quotation demonstrates your conflict and why each conflict is important to the novel. Timeline Titan: Your job for this role is to write out a timeline of events that takes place in your section of the book. This can be on an actual line, or done in point form notes. Make sure to cover all of the important events of the novel. Add relevant information from history on your timeline.
