IMMUNIZATION POLICY
Once a student is admitted into Practicum Phase of the ATP, but prior to the completing any practicum hours, the AT
student is required to submit proof of immunization against selected diseases. The specific immunizations required and
the submission process are explained in the Practicum Education section outlined in Section P.
The student is responsible for any cost associated with immunizations.
IMMUNIZATIONS REQUIRED

Annual PPD (purified protein derivative)
o The PPD skin test is a method used to diagnose silent (latent) tuberculosis (TB) infection. PPD
stands for purified protein derivative.
o If the PPD is considered positive a Chest radiograph is required every three years.
Hepatitis B immunization
o established by three reported dates of immunization or by documented testing of quantitative
antibody titer
Tetanus diphtheria
o every 10 years
Rubella, Rubeola & Mumps immunity
o established by two reported dates of vaccination or documented quantitative antibody titer
Varicella immunity
o established by documented history or quantitative antibody titer or date of vaccination.
SUBMISSION OF IMMUNIZATION RECORD
Athletic training students are required to submit proof of the following immunizations prior to being allowed to complete
any practicum rotations.

Immunization records should be submitted to the Clinical Education Coordinator by the first Monday in
August.
•
The immunization must be valid for the entire academic year in order to be considered cleared for
practicum rotations.
