• More efficient use of solar radiation than
Photovoltaic systems
– It takes 4 times the area (sq ft) of PV to collect
the same amount of energy as solar thermal.
– But,
But the PV systems produce electricity and
the solar thermal system produces hot water.
• Given our solar resources the best fit for
solar thermal is hot water heating, or other
year round thermal needs
