Meeting Overview – January 17th, 2006 We had a great meeting this past Tuesday. We spent out time together developing a strategy to connect and stay connected with area young ladies. I am pleased to announce that we have a sound plan of action for this semester that I think will really work. First up, we decided that we need to interact with more high school/middle school aged young ladies. To that end, Ashley Hurley and Takiyah Abdul-Malik are going to work on making pluggers to be distributed throughout the area middle and high schools to attract more young women. Secondly, we felt that we should have activities with these ladies in place of actual Circle meetings. We also thought that activities should not be on school nights. As a result, we have with a revised schedule for the rest of the semester. We will still have regular meetings, just fewer of them. On activity Fridays/Saturdays, we chose to involve ourselves in stimulating activities for all ages (as you know we had quite a few small girls). Activity ideas include: bowling, coloring/crafts, movie night, board games, step show*, black culture museum*, and baking cookies and other goodies. In addition, Aisha is looking into the possibility that we could take some of the ladies to the NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) Middle School Science Expo on Saturday, February 18th. (*permission slips needed for all trips) The activities are not specific to certain dates, save for the museum fieldtrip March 25th, and craft night on February 3rd. We will solidify other date activities as they come up. For now, mark you calendars for Craft night Friday, February 3rd at 6pm - 8pm. Craft night will be facilitated by Tiffany Smith. Thank you.
