FINANCIAL AID AWARD CONDITIONS
All awards are subject to the following conditions:
1. Students receiving any type of outside financial assistance must notify the
Office of Financial Services to determine if the assistance must be considered
as a resource. Federal regulations may require DCOM to reduce eligibility based
on this information. Assistance that must be counted as a resource includes, but is
not limited to, Vocational Rehabilitation, Military Health Professions
Scholarships, payment of all or part of tuition by a hospital or employer, or any
outside scholarship. Financial assistance from parents is not considered.
2. Federal regulations require that DCOM monitor class attendance. Failure to attend
class could result in a student being required to repay all or a portion of the
financial aid received for a semester.
3. All federal financial aid is awarded subject to the Satisfactory Academic Progress
Policy at DCOM.
4. The Director of Financial Services is obligated on behalf of DCOM to review and
adjust any award at any time because of changes in financial aid conditions or an
increase in resources.
5. Students who withdraw from DCOM must notify the Office of Financial Services
of this action. Withdrawal could result in a student owing repayment of Title IV
funds received.
6. Students who stop attending all classes but do not complete the official
withdrawal process could owe a repayment of Title IV funds.
7. Students who withdraw or drop below half-time and have received federal student
loans at any time during their enrollment at DCOM just notify the Office of
Financial Services and complete a loan exit interview.
8. Refund checks will be available beginning approximately one week after the first
day of class each semester. All checks should be picked up in the Cashier’s
Office at D.A.R. Hall. Checks not picked up in a reasonable period of time will
be mailed to the address on record.
