In 2010, readers of the prestigious Elsevier magazine voted Tilburg the best specialist university in the Netherlands for the fourth consecutive year. Today, 12.500 students from 85 different countries around the world coalesce at Tilburg University to prepare for their future careers. Tilburg University does not only shape the brightest minds, but fulfills furthermore, an important role in research that contributes to a better understanding of current topics in the society. ASSET As of the summer of 2008, TiSEM has its own Faculty Association: Asset. With nearly 6.000 members it is the second largest faculty association in the Netherlands. Asset consists of seven study associations. Each Asset association organizes activities for specific groups of students with a particular field of study and interests. The goal of Asset is to provide services and activities for its members to enhance their stay at Tilburg University and broaden their horizons. STUDY ASSOCIATION POLIS POLIS is the study association for and by students of Organization Sciences at Tilburg University. Within this study, relationships between and within organizations are central. POLIS was founded at the 3rd of May 1991 and has grown over the couple years to an organization with over 500 members. By organizing both relaxing and study related activities POLIS tries to involve her members with POLIS and the university. INTERFACULTY SYMPOSIUM 2014 | STAND OUT OR DROP OUT The Interfaculty Symposium brings together students from different faculties seeking to explore a topic which is relevant for all students. This year the theme is “Stand out or Drop out”, which titles our discussion about youth entrance into the tightening labor market. More specifically we invite several keynote speakers to link their own or their company’s experiences and practices to the following topic: In the current Dutch economy there is a large surplus on the labor market, which has resulted in an extremely large pool of applicants that companies can select their employees from. In order to narrow down their options more and more companies turn to innovative selection processes. With this symposium we hope to discuss what makes applicants stand out for these companies, why these unique recruitment techniques are necessary and what benefits they add to the recruitment of employees.
