ORGSP NEWSLETTER Office of Research, Grants and Sponsored Programs December 2011 Foundations Corner by Martha Scheidler December is a hectic month for many of us on campus. Holiday festivities, family gatherings, finals, grading, commencement keep schedules packed. And did I mention the obligatory shopping? It seems that there is little time for planning for 2013. Yet, it is important to be thinking about projects and how they might be funded. Pauline, Marca and I can help you research funding sources. It will be helpful to us if you can start by putting a brief abstract on paper. Then we can help you organize your project to address the following: Impact: how will your project impact the campus or local/regional community? Mission: does the project fit within the University mission? Foundation priorities: is the project a good fit for this particular foundation? Legitimacy: what is the need for the project? Goals and objectives: can you quantify results? Use of funds: what exactly do you need and how much is it going to cost? I wish all of you a wonderful holiday season and productive, grant-filled New Year! “Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man.” ~Benjamin Franklin December Awards Dr. Mary Anne Modrcin has been awarded $10,000 from the Dr. Scholl Foundation for two scholarships for the ASN program.
