Call to Order
Presentation: Lynne Vink, Math Department
Approval of January 2016 minutes
Treasurer’s Report:
 Parent Council was reimbursed $255 from
school account correcting an error from June
2015 (lunches for community members)
 Parent Council’s bank account is currently
$1,748.43
 Bottle drive earned $372; $297.60 went to
the Tech Dept for equipment. Balance of
$75.60 will go towards the Parent Council
Graduation award.
 Parent Reaching Out (PRO) grant: We will
submit an application for the 2016/17 school
year.
Principal’s Report:
 Labour – everything running as normal in
schools
 Strategic Planning - Leadership team met to
set goals for next 3 to 5 years; working on
developing the school improvement plan
 February Events:
o Exams
o Semester 1 report cards went out
but were delayed 1 day due to
printing issues
o DECA (business competition)
provincials – 4 CWDHS students
qualified for Internationals
o Course selection for next year
o Collaborative projects in math
and literacy with feeder schools

Bobbi and Shelley to submit application; council
members to brainstorm ideas on how to use
grant money. See grant guidelines at

Parent Involvement Committee Presentation
“Increasing Parent Involvement” takes place
in April in Guelph
Chad and Shelley to attend; room for 1 more
parent rep and 1 teacher rep.
Parent Council’s role and attendance at
meetings:
 We discussed various ideas to increase
parent participation at council meetings:
 Review our Mission Statement and brochure.
 Get the word out that we don’t fundraise.
 How can we make more parents feel
comfortable and welcome at the meetings?
 Booth at upcoming parent/teacher
interviews.
 Create a simple survey/questionnaire for
parents to complete at parent/teacher
interviews.
 Offer a webinar for parents who aren’t able
to attend our meetings but still want to take
part.
New Business:
Parent/Teacher Interviews are being held on
March 23. Parent Council will staff a booth and
require volunteers.
Bobbi and Shelley can volunteer from 5 to 7 pm.
Looking for volunteers for the 3 to 4:30 pm
period.
Next meeting date (revised): Monday, March 21, 2016. This is not the last
Monday of the month due to the Easter long weekend.
