This procedure should only be used during the SMOV4 high voltage recommissioning phase for the NUV-MAMA. After, the normal ramping procedure should be used. This proposal is loosly based on proposal 10036, STIS MAMA Anomalous Recovery, with the differences summarized below: (1) additional plateaus during voltage commanding, (2) longer dwells after each 50 V step, (3) intermediate ramp re-structured into 2 parts, (4) change in yellow and red limits and the MCP Hi limit, setting new values for the next plateau, and (5) adding a fold test at 300V below the nominal MCP voltage. The recovery consists of four separate procedures (visits) and they must be completed successfully and in order. They are: (1) a signal processing electronics check, (2) 1st high voltage ramp-up to an intermediate MCP voltage of -1500 V with limits modifications and voltage plateaus, (3) 2nd high voltage ramp-up to an intermediate MCP voltage of -1750 V (300 V below the nominal MCP voltage) with limits modifications and voltage plateaus followed by a fold distribution test, and (4) a final high voltage ramp-up to the full operating voltage, again with limits modifications and voltage plateaus, followed by a fold distribution 2 Proposal 11351 (STScI Edit Number: 2, Created: Friday, June 12, 2009 8:01:19 PM EST) - Overview test. During the 1st high voltage ramp-up, diagnostics are performed followed by a dark exposure. During the 2nd and 3rd high voltage ramp-ups, diagnostics are performed followed by a dark, flat field ACCUMs, and a fold analysis test. All required parameters are defined in 07-248 FUV and NUV SMOV Ramp-up Parameters Excel workbook. Supports Activity STIS-18 OBSERVING DESCRIPTION The procedure for the SMOV4 NUV-MAMA initial high voltage rampings consists of four procedures which are enabled for execution when the appropriate event flag has been set: (1) Signal processing electronics check- reduce amplifier thresholds to 0.28V and monitor ORCOUNT rates [MAMA HV is off during this procedure]. (2) First intermediate high voltage ramp-up: NUV-MAMA is ramped to an MCP voltage of -1500 V; 480 sec NUV-MAMA ACCUM dark frame during which W, X, Y, Z, OR, EV and VE counters are sampled. (3) Second intermediate high voltage ramp-up: NUV-MAMA is ramped to an MCP voltage 300 V below the nominal operating value; 480 sec for the NUV-MAMA ACCUM dark frame during which W, X, Y, Z, OR, EV and VE counters are sampled; immediately followed by the fold analysis test. (4) Full high voltage ramp-up; the NUV-MAMA is ramped to the nominal MCP voltage: 480 sec for the NUV-MAMA ACCUM dark frame is obtained during which events counter is cycled through W, X, Y , Z, OR, EV, VE; immediately followed by the fold analysis test. For all of the above procedures, the STIS external shutter must be closed. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS Prerequisites: Successful execution of proposals 11348 and 11349. Must not be executed until 4 D after release AND 3 D after MAMA LV cycling for SAA has started. 3 Proposal 11351 (STScI Edit Number: 2, Created: Friday, June 12, 2009 8:01:19 PM EST) - Overview Visits 01 to 04 are for the SMOV4 HV recovery of the NUV-MAMA. 4 Exposures Visit Proposal 11351 - Visit 01 - NUV MAMA HV Recovery Proposal 11351, Visit 01, scheduling Diagnostic Status: No Diagnostics Scientific Instruments: S/C Special Requirements: GYRO MODE 3GOBAD Comments: NUV-MAMA signal processing electronics checkout procedure. At each plateau, set Software Global Monitor to the appropiate counts/sec for that plateau (again, see Parameters workbook for SGM values). Collect minimum of 5 telemetry samples at each plateau. Ramp the PC Voltage to the plateaus of -100 V, -300 V, -500 V, and 700 V incrementally in 50 V steps (see Parameters workbook for PC Voltage ramping parameter values).
