Native Seed Collection—Olympic and Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forests FY 2007 Accomplishments BACKGROUND: The Mt Baker-Snoqualmie and Olympic National Forests in western Washington State are developing sources of local native plant species to use for revegetation, restoration, and elk forage enhancement projects. PROPOSAL: The two Forests collaborated to develop a single contract for native seed collection in multiple watersheds on the forests over two years. A minimum of 115 lb of seed will be collected. The seed will be used for propagation and as foundation seed for seed increase. FUNDED OUTPUTS: The contractor collected 64 lb of seed from the Humptulips and Quinault watersheds on the Olympic National Forest in 2007. In 2008 they will collect seed on the Upper Sauk and Upper and Lower White River watersheds on the Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
