As the world's second largest energy consumer and world's largest emitter of greenhouse gases,
China's response to the challenges of climate change has important implications for global
energy markets and efforts to combat global warming. The objectives of this Single Country
Project for China are:
-- to gain a broad understanding of U.S. energy policy and efforts to address global climate
change
-- to understand how the government collects and disseminates climate and energy data
-- to understand the role of the government, private enterprise, and the non-profit sectors in
climate/energy policy formulation, technology development and deployment, and information
dissemination and education.
-- to learn about the impact of energy policies on climate change, the growing role of renewable
energy in diversifying energy supplies and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and
best practices and technology in the field of renewable energy
