BIGH SUPPLEMENT 2320-2005-1 EFFECTIVE DATE: 05/15/2005 DURATION: This supplement is effective until superseded or removed. 2320 Page 2 of 2 FSM 2300 – RECREATION, WILDERNESS AND RELATED RESOURCE MANAGEMENT CHAPTER 2320 – WILDERNESS MANAGEMENT 2322.03 - Policy The Bighorn National Forest will manage the Cloud Peak Wilderness (CPW) as a single management unit with one set of policies and standards for resource management, and a unified budget and program of work. The Powder River District Ranger, as Lead District Ranger has District Ranger authority for the CPW. All District Rangers are accountable for completion of specific accomplishments in wilderness management where applicable as assigned through the program and budgeting process. The Cloud Peak Wilderness Coordinator position reports to the Powder River District Ranger, and is the primary contact point for coordinated management of the wilderness resource. 2322.04 - RESPONSIBILITIES Lead District Ranger 1. Reports to the Forest Supervisor and holds District Ranger authority for the Cloud Peak Wilderness. 2. Responsible for coordination with other District Rangers on non-routine issues and management actions within their area of jurisdiction, including actions within the wilderness area and adjacent activities that affect wilderness management, such as trailhead and travel management. 3. Responsible for supervision of the Cloud Peak Wilderness Coordinator Cloud Peak Wilderness Coordinator 1. Reports to the Lead District Ranger and represents the District Rangers for on-the-ground implementation. 2. Serves as the primary contact for wilderness program staff work for the Bighorn National Forest. 3. Serves as the primary coordinator for wilderness planning, program execution, monitoring, and wilderness education. 4. Serves as the primary contact for coordination with other resource programs within the CPW, including but not limited to special uses, range, wildlife and fish.
