R2 SUPPLEMENT 1700-2001-1 EFFECTIVE DATE: 04/16/2001 DURATION: Effective until superseded or removed 1740 Page 1 of 1 FSM 1700 – CIVIL RIGHTS CHAPTER 1740 – CIVIL RIGHTS TRAINING 1740.2 – Objective To provide a work environment for all Region 2 employees that is free from sexual harassment. 1740.42 - Regional Foresters, Station Directors, and Area Director All managers and supervisors must provide employee training on the various manifestations of sexual harassment, costs, and consequences. Prompt and appropriate action on complaints of sexual harassment is mandatory. Failure to take appropriate action or to tolerate such behavior is subject to disciplinary action. 1. Regional Staff Directors, Forest Supervisors, District Rangers have the responsible to: a. Create and maintain an environment free of sexual harassment behaviors. b. Notify the Assistant Director for Employee Relations within 24 hours of receiving notice of an allegation of a sexual harassment incident. (Pat Halligan, 303-2755317). c. Initiate temporary interventions as a situation dictates. For example, in a reported incident, it might be appropriate to make temporary work assignments changes pending the outcome of an investigation. Consult with the unit personnel officer for other actions that may be appropriate. d. Impose or recommend disciplinary action commensurate with the severity of an investigated and substantiated incident. e. Monitor work environment and conduct additional sexual harassment prevention training, as needed. 2. All other supervisory employees are responsible to: a. Establish and maintain an environment free of sexual harassment behaviors. b. Report all alleged incidents of sexual harassment to the responsible official as soon as possible after learning of the alleged incident (normally within 24 hours). If the responsible official is the alleged offender, report to the next higher level official. c. Initiate temporary interventions if a situation dictates. d. Ensure all employees receive sexual harassment training as needed.
