1652 – CLIPPINGS
Each Forest Supervisor should establish and maintain a clippings file comprised of newsworthy
and historically significant news releases and clips from local newspapers, magazines and other
sources. Clippings and releases related to current and emerging issues should be faxed or
electronically transmitted immediately after publication to the Public Affairs – Media Relation
Staff in the Regional Office and to the Washington Office – Office of Communications.
Supervisors Offices and Ranger Districts should subscribe to a representative sample of local
newspapers of general circulation and appropriate publications with area-wide circulation to help
monitor events and issues concerning the management and use of National Forests. This
information is essential to aid Forest Supervisors, Regional Foresters and the Chief in keeping
current on issues and trends of public concern.
Copies of original articles are acceptable.
