Charlie Montgomery, Section Head, Chemical Development, AMRI

Charlie was born and bred in Troon, a small seaside town on the west of
Scotland, and subsequently moved east to the city of Edinburgh where he
completed his first degree in Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh.
Following an industrial position at Glaxo-Wellcome (later
GlaxoSmithKline) in Stevenage, England he returned to Edinburgh to
pursue studies toward a Ph.D. in natural product synthesis. After
completing his research in 2000 he accepted a position with Albany
Molecular Research Inc. (AMRI), a contract research organization that
works with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to advance new medicines, as a senior
research scientist. He currently holds the position of Section Head, Chemical Development and
is responsible for all activities at AMRI’s Syracuse Research Center.
