The Task
Open IT solutions, Internet-based services,
web technologies and uniform, flexible network infrastructures are a necessity if constant
demands for better efficiency in automation
are to be satisfied. In such cases, Industrial
Ethernet is replacing manufacturer-specific
bus systems more and more. The installation
of the cabling required for Ethernet, however,
is often time-consuming and costly. A wireless
expansion is necessary which can fulfill the
specific requirements without neglecting
security issues. It will enable new applications
and processes to be integrated and costs to be
reduced.
iWLAN access point: iWLAN is quick to install, reduces
the network costs, e.g. on construction sites, and offers
comprehensive application possibilities.

Our Solution
We have set the iWLAN standard for industrial
applications through further development
of the WLAN wireless technology for use in
industry. Since introduction of the IEEE 802.
11i standard and special expansions, the
transmission technology has become safe,
real-time capable, and thanks to the extremely
minimal installation work it is also non-timecritical and inexpensive.
Particularly with wireless solutions, security
is an important issue. In order to guarantee
the security even of the most sensitive data
we rely on industrial security and the most
up-to-date encryption technologies.
The almost unlimited possibilities of the system
also open up an extensive range of applications:
from two-way radio through to remote control
and monitoring of machines and processes
as well as asset tracking, anything is possible.
