OVERVIEW
UW-Sprout Campus Garden is entering its third growing season in Summer 2016. We are searching for a student
employee who will work alongside our Campus Garden Manager to manage the garden and CSA
(Community Supported Agriculture) business.
We are looking for someone who can work 8-15 hours this semester, then 20-40 hours/week over summer. The
job is year-round with reduced hours during the school year. Candidates must also be enrolled full-time at UWStout for Fall 2016 and have an expected graduation date of Fall 2017 or later. Candidates can be from any
major.
This position reports to the Campus Garden Manager and the Sustainability Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS
We’re looking for someone with these skills:
• Strong organizational skills; ability to juggle multiple tasks in a timely manner
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work with a variety of people in a professional
manner and be able to respond to a variety of requests effectively and in a pleasant manner
• Self-sufficient and self-directing; ability to manage tasks on own
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively with others
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in gardening, farming, and/or horticulture is a plus, but not required
RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a job with lots of variety! Every day is different from the last. So if you’re someone who likes to take on
new projects and juggle different kinds of tasks, this job is for you. Here are some of the things that the Assistant
Manager will do:
§ Help to oversee the propagation, planting, cultivation, and harvesting of vegetables, herbs, fruits, and
flowers
§ Work with CSA customers to provide quality vegetables, herbs, and fruits on a regular basis, including
delivering CSA shares to customers each week
§ Work on marketing UW-Sprout through social media (Facebook and Instagram), blog, website, and
more
§ Help to plan events to showcase the garden to the campus and community
§ Help to create education about sustainable food, to inform the campus and community
§ Work with Stepping Stones Food Pantry to provide donations of vegetables, herbs, and fruits

Help to manage UW-Sprout’s compost program
Help to maintain garden equipment and tools
Keep day-to-day records of what is planted and harvested
Experiment with new vegetables, fruits, and herbs and new gardening methods in the garden, including
season extension in the garden’s hoophouse
Help build the Volunteers for Veggies Program by seeking out volunteers and managing their schedules
TIME COMMITMENT
§ 8-15 hours per during the school year
§ 20-40 hours per week during the summer
