After the 1960s and 1970s many insurgent groups came to the limelight either against certain elements or to be separated from the mainland of India. Among such movements the Mizo armed struggle for independence has attracted both historians and political scientists of today. This seminar thus proposed an extensive study not only on the Mizo movements but also similar movements of Southeast Asia and of the globe. It is also to commemorate and inaugurate the fifty years of the MNF armed struggle for independence beginning from 28 February 1966. Today the insurgent movements of Southeast Asia are strongly advocated and influenced both outside and inside the mainland of India. Critic pointed out that such influences was a direct challenge to the socio‐political prospects of the union of India. The involvement of foreign powers will be therefore advocated in the seminar to supplement and to recollect the insurgent’s connection with foreign powers. The seminar main focus will be on the various issues involved to spur such movements in the region and to look into unexplored areas. It is also an attempt to highlight the untold misery and sufferings of the household members during such movements. The seminar will deal critically with the psychological aspects of such movements to represent and interpret the socio‐political aspects of the region as a whole. Hence detailed study of the annihilation of both the army and the insurgent groups will be the main attraction of the seminar.
