L Khawlhring Co-ordinators Thousands of people with mental health conditions around the world are deprived of their human rights. They are not only discriminated against, stigmatized and marginalized but are also subject to emotional and physical abuse in both mental health facilities and the community. Poor quality care due to lack of qualified health professionals and dilapidated facilities leads to further violations. The theme for this year’s World Mental Health Day, observed on 10th October, is "Dignity in Mental Health". This year, WHO will be raising awareness on what can be done to ensure that people with mental health conditions can continue to live with dignity, through human rights oriented policy and law, training of health professionals, respect for informed consent to treatment, inclusion in decisionmaking processes, and public information campaigns. There are a variety of mental issues that can affect adolescents (University students) with the most common being substance disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders. Other potentially serious forms of mental illness include psychosis and eating disorders. This National workshop-cum-seminar will address different physical and mental health problems to address the need for prevention, caregiving and intervention providing their dignity as citizen. A National Seminar on mental health Issues with the theme ”Dignity in Mental Health” is proposed to be organized on 13th October, 2015, targeted group is youth group with an objectives to promote dignity among the people who are suffering from Mental Illness and their caretaker, to reduce stigma, and to promote awareness regarding mental health . Additionally, this is a part of CME which is necessary for both academic interests as well as to obtain credit hours in the Indian Medical Council (Mizoram Chapter). Subthemes:Depression, helplessness, suicide, fatigue, anxiety, stress, drug/ alcohol addiction, law and order, legal rights, cognition, psychosomatic disorders, women and health, environment and health, causes of mental health, physical illness, hostility, deprivation, abuse and any other mental health related issues. Conference Venue: The Workshop-cum Seminar will be held in the Social Science Complex. Inaugural function will be held at Dean’s Multipurpose Hall, this will be followed by Lecture session at the same venue. The technical session of the Seminar will be held at Lecture Hall I and II of the Department of Psychology, Mizoram University. Call for Paper: Scholars interested in presenting research papers within the theme of the conference are requested to submit their abstracts before 10thOctober, 2015. The Abstract of paper should not exceed 250 words; typed in A4 size paper in double space. The abstracts must include Title, Author and Institutional affiliation. The text of the abstract should start from a new line stating clearly Objectives, Method, Results and Conclusions.
