The 1st Open Colloquium Of The
South African Energy Modelling Network
(SAEMN)
You are invited to attend the 1st Open Colloquium of the South African Energy Modelling Network (SAEMN).
Continuing from a meeting of modelling researchers and practitioners in July 2012 where the need for
SAEMN was identified, the colloquium will focus on:
Formalising the SAEMN (Terms of Reference) – and how the work of SAEMN can influence national energy
policy.
Moving towards an integrated South African energy-modelling framework that recognises the more than
70 modelling tools that are available and guides the selection of appropriate tools for decision- and
policy-making.
Exploring the access to national data, and the sharing of data between SAEMN members.
As an Open Colloquium, contributions – in the form of short presentations – may be proposed with the
RSVP. The program will be finalised and circulated after the 21st of January.
