Module 1
Module 1 consists of several tasks one can do to become familiar with Mathematica.
They include:
 Working through examples in a handout I provide (email me) that are from 2
books. The examples include:
o “Appendix I – Mathematica Quick Review” from the book "Quantum
Methods with Mathematica" by James M. Feagan (Springer, 2002) [ISBN:
0-387-95365-5] provided in class.
o From “Chapter 0” of the book “A Mathematica Companion for
Differential Equations” by Selwyn Hollis (Prentice Hall, 2003), [ISBN: 013-046329-9] provided in class.
 Watching a series of webcasts called “Hands-on Start to Mathematica” found at
the following link - http://www.wolfram.com/broadcast/screencasts/handsonstart/
 Going through a tutorial authored by Professor Megan Frary (MSE Dept, Boise
State University). The tutorial is available on the course website.
