when you wish to multiply or divide the elements of one vector/matrix by the
corresponding elements of another vector/matrix, or when you want to raise all
the elements to a power, you MUST place a "." in front of the *, /, or ^
symbol. Refer to the last two examples on p74. To create the table of values,
see the example on pp85-86 (paying particular attention to the last command of
the code).

(p39) and how to transpose a matrix (p41). Here the multiplications ARE matrix
multiplication, so no dot is needed.
g5c3p094x33: (solving equations with matrices): Remind yourself how to write a
system of equations in matrix form (p68) and use inverses (p69) or left-division of
matrices (p70). There is a great example on pp71-72. NOTE that this example
also does NOT use element-by-element operations!
s517x48: (ezplot, int) Use the techniques of symbolic variables (from Lab 2) to
plot the function (f(x)=1/sqrt(x-3)) and find the area. NOTE that MATLAB handles
the improper integral automatically!
s547x17: (diff, int) Define t as a symbolic variable, then follow the steps done by
hand (differentiate x and y, then integrate sqrt(dx^2+dy^2). The resulting integral
will (likely) make no sense to the students, so keep in mind the "double"
command (p352).
