Deadlines for application 1st May for the winter semester 1st November for the summer semester Language of instruction We would like to remind you that the language of instruction at HFT is German. Most of our staff does speak some English, but generally lectures and seminars are held in German. Language courses We are offering 4 week long preparatory intensive German language courses (levels A1, A2, B1, B2) before the start of each semester. The courses cost €100.- and will earn you 3 ECTS credits upon successful completion. If you like to participate, please sign and return the language course reservation form. For full participation in studies you are strongly advised to acquire an intermediate level of B1 in German language before starting studies at HFT. Accommodation Rooms in student accommodation must be booked at the time of your application. The full payment of the first rent and a refundable deposit is due after you have received the letter of the housing association. Rooms can only be booked for full calendar months and for a minimum of 6 months until to the end of the semester (31st August or 28th February). Please complete the accommodation reservation form, sign and return it to us. We strongly advise you to reserve a room in a student’s residence because it is difficult to find affordable housing in Stuttgart. Portfolio Students of Interior Architectural Design and Architecture are requested to hand in a portfolio or samples of their recent work. If it is computerized, please make sure, that it is either a PDF or a PowerPoint file. Visa for citizens of non-EU countries Please be aware that obtaining a visa for Germany takes at least 6 weeks. Given that consulates are busy and appointments may be required, we recommend you to apply for your visa as early as 6-8 weeks before departure to avoid late arrival. Time of arrival Please arrive several days before lectures or German classes will start.
