Ecosense has been appointed by the City of Cape Town as independent environmental consultants to undertake a basic assessment process for the project, including public participation for environmental authorisation from the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning (DEADP). The draft Basic Assessment report for the proposed project was available for comment at the end of last year and we subsequently received a number of comments from residents, state departments, as well as the City’s various Service departments and Environmental and Heritage Management Department. The draft report and environmental management programme have been finalised to incorporate the comments received, as well as to include details of public participation. A detailed comments and responses report have been included as Appendix F6 to the report, which addresses the concerns received. The main changes to the report are a rewrite of the alternatives considered and an inclusion of the various comments received on the draft report. There is an opportunity for comment on the Final Basic Assessment Report for 21 days from Thursday 2 April 2015 to Friday 24 April 2015. The project reference number for the relevant project must accompany any correspondence and comments. A hard copy of the report is available in the Eerste River Public Library at the c/o Bobs Way and Beverly Street, Eerste River. The document is also available on our website at http://www.ecosense.co.za/downloads.html. Comments can be sent to Kozette Myburgh on kozette@ecosense.co.za, or at the above address.
