Dershem Professor of llathenatics Hope College Ho11and, MI 49423 1.e. and Conputer Science Technical Description of Project and Results The puf,poseof this project was to establish a nicroconputer laboiatory to enhance the learining of statistios, Wepurchased the proposed equipnent and established a conputer laboratorl i.n a roornin the college library. The college library is adjacent to the nathedatics building. By having the laboratory in the library, we believed that it would be readily available to all of our students. This concept net rrith tnixed success. Students did appreciate the availability of the conputers. Ho{ever becausewe did not continuously supefiise the conputels, we did have note equipnent failures than we would have 1iked. This cordng year pernanent space !/i11 becone available in the nathenatics buildj.ng. Hope College has coflmitted sone of this space fo! the nicroconputer laboratoxy and funds to supervise this laboratoay. Becauseof the availabi.lj.ty of a microcoilputer laboratory, we have been developing educatiorEl naterials that nake use of this equiprent, Thus fa! good progress has been nade in the developnent of riaterials for our statistics coutse.
