BSNA Newsletter Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing & Health Sciences November Edition 2015 Volunteer Opportunities Blood Drive Update The first ever blood drive hosted by BSNA and Bonfils Blood Center on October 8th was a huge success. Out of the 40 donation slot times that were open, we collected 33 units of blood. That is enough blood to save and enhance the lives of up to 99 local patients! Thank you to Beth-El students and faculty for giving such a precious gift. The next blood drive will take place on December 4th, so make sure to visit donors.bonfils.org (site code A908) to make an appointment. Those who donated in October should be eligible to donate again. Lantern Festival On November 7th, Beth-El student nurses will be out at the Pikes Peak International Raceway volunteering at the Lantern Festival. Thousands of community members are expected to join together to light the sky with 100% biodegradable lanterns. Family and friends can enjoy music, dancing, s'mores, and of course, watch the lanterns float away in an unforgettable release. Our volunteers will help make this magical event possible by setting up, assembling equipment, assisting participants light their lanterns, and more. Marion House On Friday November 20th and Wednesday December 2, BSNA has set up a volunteer opportunity at Marion House Soup Kitchen. Friday November 20th is full, but we are still looking for two people that can volunteer for December 2 from 10am-2pm.
