1. Description
Pall PRC chromatography columns have been developed for fast selectivity and
performance screening of chromatography sorbents. They guarantee optimal and
consistent performance:
• 5 mm I.D. x 50 mm bed height prepacked columns of 1 mL, and 8 mm I.D.x100 mm
bed height prepacked columns of 5 mL, ready- and easy-to-use
• Direct connections to commonly used laboratory chromatography systems, e.g.,
ÄKTAu systems (see Table 1)
• High packing efficiency
• Fully scalable: once screened, the sorbent can be operated in the same conditions
at either laboratory, pilot or production scale
KANEKA KanCapA sorbent is designed for the purification of biomolecules containing
an Fc region of immunoglobulin and its derivatives from biological samples and cell
culture media. It is composed of highly cross-linked cellulose beads and KANEKA’s
proprietary alkaline resistant Protein A ligand. The cellulose base matrix has superior
non-specific binding characteristics. KANEKA KanCapA sorbent allows high flow
rates during affinity purification of IgG at development, pilot and commercial scale.
Benefits:
• Alkaline stability and long life cycle
• Mild pH elution
• High binding capacity
• High flow rate operation and easy scale up from pilot to process

2. Main Properties
Table 1
Main Properties and Recommended Operating Conditions
An example of chromatographic conditions is detailed below. The optimal conditions
depend on the characteristics of feed material.

Column
Outer dimensions
1 mL column: 10 x 128 mm ; 5 mL column: 10 x 164 mm
Materials of construction
Body and end caps: Molded PP (Polypropylene)
17 μm frit: PP / PE (Polypropylene / Polyethylene)
Connections4
Built-in 10-32 fittings
Maximum operating pressure
1 mL column: 20 bar g (290 psi g) ; 5 mL column: 30 bar g (435 psi g)
1
The flow rate corresponding to a residence time of 4 to 6 minutes depends on the column length.
For columns of 5 cm height, 50-75 cm/hr flow rate gives 4-6 minutes of residence time.
2
0.5 M sodium hydroxide can also be used (refer to Table 1)
4. Thermal Stability and Storage
Temperature of use
Storage temperature
2 to 30 °C
2 to 8 °C
Storage solution between runs
20% ethanol
1
5% dynamic binding capacity is determined by frontal analysis at 3 minute residence time.
2
Alkaline conditions can be used for CIP but are unsuitable for long term exposure. 3 Prevent
from freezing. 4 For HPLC/MPLC/ÄKTA systems: direct connection. For systems equipped with
¼-28 or M6 connections: use a standard 10-32 male/¼-28 or M6 female adaptor (not supplied).
2
Column must never be frozen
Column is shipped at ambient temperature
