TED 3010 Policy Statement

UNDERGRADUATE

The purpose of TED 3010 is to gain experience in diverse classroom settings.

Because of our PDS model it is essential that teacher candidates gain experience in a variety of settings prior to their Professional Year. No credits of TED 3010 will be waived for undergraduate students UNLESS documentation of successful participation (certificate of completion and evidence of an earned grade of B or better) in the Teacher Cadet program is provided. In that event two credits will be waived. In the rare event that an undergraduate teacher candidate has documentation of extensive classroom experience (not coaching or after school activities), 30 hours of field work may be waived, but teacher candidates will still be required to enroll in three credits of TED 3010 (preferably one credit per semester with a maximum of two credits in any semester) and attend the seminars. Approval for waived credits or field experience hours may only be granted by the Director of

Teacher Education and Licensure Programs or the Chair of the Department of

Curriculum & Instruction.

POST BACCALAUREATE

The purpose of TED 3010 is to gain experience in diverse classroom settings.

Because of our PDS model it is essential that teacher candidates gain experience in a variety of settings prior to their Professional Year. A maximum of one credit of TED

3010 will be waived for post bac students UNLESS documentation of successful participation (certificate of completion and evidence of an earned grade of B or better) in the Teacher Cadet program is provided. In that event two credits will be waived. In the event that a post bac teacher candidate has documentation of extensive classroom experience (not coaching or after school activities), one credit of TED 3010 may be waived by the Director of Teacher Education and Licensure
