Industrial Power SST-111 Steam Turbine Up to 12 MW www.siemens.com/energy SST-111 Steam Turbine The SST-111 is a multi-stage steam turbine with an integrated gearbox and is designed for the output range from 3 to 12 MW. The gearbox, designed for multi-casing design approach permits up to two controlled extractions with operation in various steam supply systems, as well as the possibility of including a reheat system to optimize efficiency. The SST-111 embodies both efficiency and availability. The tried-and-true design concept of the SST-110 is characterized by a space-saving configuration, quick startup and cost-effective operation combined with the fluid mechanics design used in the Siemens multi-stage turbines. The machine’s robust construction and cantilever rotor bearing result in fast start-up capability, enabling the machine to start up and achieve maximum output within seconds – even in cold condition. Operation in the saturated steam regime enables utilization of extremely low residual steam flows, thereby generating power with minimal technical effort. As with all pre-designed steam turbines, the SST-111 is delivered as a complete machine, including the generator, control and monitoring equipment as well as the necessary auxiliary and supporting systems. The SST-111 is suitable for use in decentralized power supply applications. Examples of customers who could benefit from it include municipal utilities and energy intensive industrial plants, which generate their own power for production processes. Because of its flexible machine design, the turbine is suitable for many applications, such as: biomass power plants waste and refuse incineration plants small combined-cycle power plants (use of gas-turbine waste heat) utilization of waste heat in industry combined heat and power concentrated solar power plants 2 Advantages of the SST-111 Unique cost-benefit ratio thanks to improved efficiency – High efficiency / high power yield –O ptimum speed flexibility for high efficiency, optimum efficiency in the part-load range – Attractive price Flexibility – Compact design, simple installation, small footprint – Reheat system, controlled extraction and injection are possible – Fast start-up capability, high availability, high efficiency at varying steam parameters (biomass) – Simple adaptation to changed steam parameters (repowering etc.) Proven “low-risk” design – Based on the same tried-and-true concept of the SST-110 – Proven modular design parts and our own gearboxes – Quick service response times – Single-contractor machines, one contact person Technical Data Output of up to 12 MW Main steam pressure up to 131 bar(a) Main steam temperature up to 530° C Exhaust steam pressure: Condensation down to 0.06 bar(a) maximum Typical Dimensions Length: approximately 8 m, including generator Width: 4.0 m Height: 4.0 m Features Fast start-up without preheating Saturated steam operation Condensing design Package design Oil supply system integrated into the baseframe Nozzle-group control option available Compact configuration Pressure-controlled extraction and/or injection High pressure/low pressure arrangement ATEX design available as an option Turbine Design The turbine casings are bolted to the bearing housing kinematically so as to maintain centricity and permit unrestrained thermal expansion. The vertical casing joint facilitates access to the impeller. The admission valve with combined control and stop-valve function is opened or closed by a flanged-on, pneumatically-controlled servomotor. Gearbox The integrated gearbox is manufactured in-house and is tailored to the turbine design. The gearbox casing contains the plain bearings that are supplied with pressurized lube oil and the gear wheels. The ground gear teeth, together with optimization of the contact pattern during installation, ensure smooth running behavior at low noise levels. We are thus able to achieve short lead times and optimum matching to both the turbine and the customer’s operating mode. Oil System The oil supply system is integrated into the baseframe and consists of an electric oil pump for startup, a mechanically-driven main oil pump, a replaceable filter and an air-cooled oil cooler. Baseframe The SST-111 steam turbine is delivered completely assembled as a pre-tested package unit. The turbine, gearbox and oil supply system are mounted on a shared baseframe. The compact, integrated configuration permits outputs of up to 12 MW under limited spatial conditions. Comprehensive Service Siemens offers an extensive portfolio of service solutions and products for the SST-111 to ensure efficient plant operation.
