Addendum No. 2
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs
University Hall Boiler Replacement
Project No.: EM-610
SEC Project No.: 10120
5 October, 2010
REVISIONS TO THE DRAWINGS:
1.
The owner has obtained proposals for the boilers from several vendors with the intent of
pre-purchasing them. However they have decided not to furnish the boilers. Attached is
the low bid proposal obtained by the owner. The contractor shall furnish and install the
boilers specified on the drawings and contained in the attached low bid proposal.
2.
Refer to the drawings Sheet M5.01: On the Boiler Schedule delete Remark No. 2 and 10.
RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS:
1.
If the Boilers are owner provided which manufacture will they be using out of the three that
are listed in the project specifications?
Response: The boilers will be furnished and installed by the contractor. Provide the
sellers boilers scheduled on the drawings and included in the proposal from Killiam.
3.
In addition to question #1, if we don’t know what boiler manufacture the owner is providing
we cannot determine the combined exhaust flue size since each manufacture has their
own venting requirements, so what size of combined exhaust flue should we assume at
this time for bidding purposes?
Response: Refer to the response in question 1.
4.
Sheet M1.01, general note #5 requests balancing report, but there are no new circuit
setters or balancing valves shown to be installed so to what extent are we to test and
balance the system if any?
Response: Refer to the specifications section 15990 and the system schematic on sheet
M7.01. Venturi’s are shown on the drawings and the specifications define the balancing
requirements.

Are we to assume that on sheet M5.01, boiler schedule remark #’s 2 through 9 will be
provided by the owners with the boilers?

Response: The contractor is responsible for providing the boilers along with items
identified in remarks 3 thru 9.
6.
On the State of Colorado bid form for this project there is a section for bidders to indicate
time of completion but we are unable to determine a time of completion due to the boilers
being owner provided. So in this section do we enter in the time of completion after we
receive the boilers from the owner?
Response: It is our understanding that the lead time on the boilers is approximately 6
weeks from approved shop drawings. This lead time needs to be coordinated with the
manufacturer.
7.
At what point does the owner boiler handling end and contractor boiler handling began?
Response: The contractor is fully responsible for handling the boilers.
8.
Does this project require a bid bond or Performance & Payment Bond?
Response: Both Bid Bond and Performance and Payment Bonds are required.
