Thomas Wynn and Frederick L. Coolidge, University of Colorado, USA ***NEW COURSE*** Wild Cognition (ANTH 4205/5205) Instr. Klint Janulis, a PhD student in archaeology at University of Oxford with This is a 6 credit hour course and is an experimental/ experiential journey in cognitive archaeology. The core of the course will consist of a two week-field component in which students will learn the fundamental technologies crucial to the subsistence of prehistoric hunter-gatherers. This will follow one week of on campus instruction. The Evolution of Ritual and Religion (ANTH 4115/5115-3) with Prof. Matthew Rossano, Southeastern Louisiana University The purpose of this class is to understand the evolution of two uniquely human qualities: ritual and religion. We will take a highly inter-disciplinary approach using archeology, anthropology, primatology, and cognitive science to define what ritual and religion are and to explore the role they have played in making us human.
