She then sent this scrapbook to her sister Kate Baker Busey. “They (the newspaper clippings) may not seem of so much importance to you now,” Lizzie wrote to Kate, “but I feel sure that the work of this arduous year in the State of Wash. will be a useful reminder at some future day—at least to your girls—of what the women of 1910 did that they might come into their own as I feel sure in the evolution of things they will.” V. Dunlap served as a U.S. consul at Breslau, Germany, in 1890-91 and as a U.S. commercial agent at Furth, Bavaria, 1891-93. (Between 1905 and 1915 he would again serve as a U.S. consul, this time in Cologne, Germany.) The Hiram J. The scrapbook also contains notices of Hiram Dunlap’s appointment to Germany and an obituary of Ellen “Nellie” Dunlap as well as several loose items, including a copy of a purported message of “Emelina” Dunlap “given through the mediumship of Mrs. Maggie Waite.”
