UNCTAD - WAIPA Investment Conference
Geneva, 4-7 May 2009
This Investment Conference is designed for investment promotion practitioners and policy makers. It will focus on issues that are
pertinent to investment promotion agencies in light of the global economic crisis. It will include a High-level Session on Best
Practices in Investment Policies, training events and networking opportunities. The Conference, organized in cooperation with
WAIPA, will take place on the occasion of UNCTAD's Investment, Enterprise and Development Commission (4-8 May 2009).
Participants are also invited to attend the Commission's sessions, including the opening and presentations and discussions on the
recently conducted investment policy reviews of the Dominican Republic and Nigeria.

Workshop: Promoting Foreign Investment in Tourism

This workshop will include presentations and case studies based on UNCTAD's research work and training
courses in the area of FDI trends, investment policies and promotion, as well as an upcoming publication in
UNCTAD's Investment Advisory Series on promoting foreign investment in tourism.
Seminar: Practices and Lessons from IPRs

With 25 completed investment policy reviews (IPR), the seminar will discuss countries' experiences to
enhance their investment climate based on the IPR recommendations.
Workshop: Investment Promotion Provisions in International Investment Agreements

This workshop will cover the negotiation of IIAs and their investment promotion provisions, combining
presentations, selected examples from IIAs, and open discussion.
