NOTES
1. All School of Public Affairs students must complete the University Composition Competency requirement. After
completing both ENGL 100 and ENGL 202 at Palomar College (ENGL 1310 and ENGL 1410 at UCCS), students must
either submit a Writing Portfolio or enroll in an additional upper division writing course. Please consult an academic
advisor in the Student Success Center at UCCS for complete details.
2. Area 5 (Natural Science) course selection must include at least one lab course.
3. The CJ 4121 and CJ 4410 equivalencies will only be awarded if the student achieves a B, or better, grade in the course.
Upper-Division credit will not be awarded.
4. A 1-3 credit hour course can be taken for this requirement.
5. AJ 280 will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be used to fulfill the CJ 4690 CJ Internship, a required course
at UCCS.
6. Minimum Academic Preparation Standards (MAPS) are an admission requirement. UCCS requires at least two years of
high school or two semesters of college foreign language equivalent. Students who have met the requirement through high
school work need not complete this requirement for transfer to UCCS. Students who still need to fulfill this requirement
should complete through the second semester language acquisition course.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The following information applies only if the student completes all of the courses listed above prior to transfer. It is
understood that after a student has been admitted to the School of Public Affairs, all courses will be taken in residence at
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
1.
Students who follow the above curriculum can opt to continue their studies either in residence at UCCS
or through an online degree completion program. The online program is for students who have
completed the first 60 credits through Palomar College and who will complete their degree taking 60
credits in online coursework offered through the School of Public Affairs at UCCS.
2.
Transfer students with a minimum 2.0 GPA will be considered for admission to the university. However, in
order to be accepted to the School of Public Affairs, students need a 2.4 GPA.
3.
Courses accepted in transfer to the School of Public Affairs at UCCS are not necessarily accepted for transfer to
any other school or college in the University of Colorado System.
4.
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs School of Public Affairs will accept a maximum of 72 semester
hours in transfer from Community Colleges.
5.
A minimum of 45 semester hours of upper-level (3000/4000) course work is required for the Bachelor of Arts in
Criminal Justice degree at UCCS.
6.
Only courses with a grade of “C-” or better will be accepted in transfer.
7.

Admissions Office. An academic advisor will complete an evaluation of transfer work. Transfer students will
receive a copy of their evaluation when they attend a required Transfer Orientation.
