Course Description:
This course enables students to consolidate their understanding of linear relations and
extend their problem-solving and algebraic skills through investigation, the effective use of
technology, and hands-on activities. Students will develop and graph equations in analytic
geometry; solve and apply linear systems, using real-life examples; and explore and
interpret graphs of quadratic relations. Students will investigate similar triangles, the
trigonometry of right triangles, and the measurement of three-dimensional figures. Students
will consolidate their mathematical skills as they solve problems and communicate their
thinking.

Attendance and Work Completion
 Please arrive to class on time each day. If you are late for class you will serve a
detention during break. Frequent lates will result in a phone call home.
 Regular attendance is essential for success. A note is required from your parent or
guardian on the first day back from an absence. If a note is not provided, this will result
in a phone call home. Frequent absences will result in a referral to the office.
 Homework will be assigned, to be completed daily.
 Students are expected to arrive prepared for class each day, with necessary pens,
pencils, notes and scientific calculator.
 If you are going to miss an assessment, please let me know in advance so that we can
make alternate arrangements.
PERMISSION TO LEAVE CLASS POLICY STATEMENT
 Students should not leave the classroom for the first/last 20 minutes of class.
 Students in the halls during class time must have a note from the teacher.
 If a student misuses their hall pass the student will lose their right to use a hall pass for a
period of time.
 Students must show their hall pass to any of the school staff who ask for it.
 Detentions and suspensions will be issued to students who do not follow the rules.
