About Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management:
Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management (ESPM) is a multidisciplinary database which provides comprehensive coverage of the literature relating to environmental
sciences dating from 1967 to the present. Millions of abstracts and citations are included
from scientific journals within the relevant literature.
Beyond the mainstream peer reviewed journals in this field, this resource also provides
abstracts of hard-to-get, low circulation grey literature publications (conference proceedings, reports, monographs, books and government publications), sometimes with links
back to the full text (typically open access repositories).
Dates of Coverage: 1967—present; updated monthly

To broaden results: use OR to find articles with either term (x OR y).
To eliminate terms: use NOT to find articles with one term but not the

(-) use a hyphen to indicate a range when searching numerical fields, such
as Publication date. Example: YR(2005-2008)

Advanced
Search:
Perform a more detailed search using the pull-down menu with supported field codes as well as the “limit to” section to apply additional limits. If you fill up the 5 search bars you can add new ones by clicking on the “Add a row”
link under the search bars. Advanced search lets you set limits before you start your search. See the limits section
below to know what your options are.

Line Search:
Perform a detailed search by entering terms into the search box. Use the pull-down menu to insert field codes and
then connect them using the Boolean operator pull-down menu. Boolean, special characters, and field codes are
supported. Click on “Add search fields” to display the Operators and Search fields pull-down menus. Results can be
limited to peer reviewed articles.
Find Similar:
Find Similar identifies key terms within the text you enter, using them to search for related content. Enter the text
(preferably the abstract or article summary) and ProQuest will analyze the keywords and retrieve similar documents. Find Similar works best if you enter at least 50 words into the text box. You can limit your search to only
include peer reviewed articles.
Look Up Cita- Use the Look Up Citation form to easily and quickly search for citations. The major fields of the citation are listed

Look Ups are available for the author and publication field. Use the Look up feature to search or browse an alphabetical list of authors or publications.
Figures &
Tables
Search:
Find figures & tables relevant to your research in Natural Sciences from journals and other documents. Deep indexing is the innovative process by which ProQuest creates metadata for the vital research data that often remains hidden in tables and figures within journal articles. Deep indexing categorizes the data variables and other
content represented in tables, maps, photographs and other figures and allows efficient, precise and relevant retrieval.
Limits:
When using advanced search, or after you get search results from a basic search, you will be able to utilize
the following limits. Limit to Peer reviewed articles, Conferences, or Conference papers. Limit by Publication
date, Source type, Document type, and Language. Results can be sorted by Relevance or by Publication
date.
Narrow your results:
Once you perform a search, you are able to narrow search results. Use the “Narrow results by” section to
apply additional limits to refine your results. Some of your options are the same as the limits in the advanced search, and some are new fields. The options that aren’t on the advanced search page our narrowing by Publication title, Subject, Classification, Company/Organization, Location, Tags, and Database.
Search within your
results.
Even when you use the advanced search in Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management, you still
might have too many records to look at. You can use the “Search Within” feature to run a search within the
current results. Add additional keywords and ProQuest will look for the keywords in the set of current
search results. Selecting “Search Within” will toggle you to the bottom of the search results page.
Accessing full text:
If you want to access the full text of an article on your search results screen, click on the blue “Discover full
text” button at the end of the record. If you have clicked on the record and are on the page showing the
abstract of the article, then the blue “Discover full text” button will be on the right side of the page.
