It’s About Personal Responsibility! Alcohol Regulations And Drug Policy • You can only drink if you are 21 or older and in a private area. • The University does not permit driving while intoxicated or public intoxication. • The possession of anything involving a drinking game (such as a beer-pong table) is against the Code of Conduct. • Even if you are off campus, the University can take action for illegal alcohol use. You are a Blue Hen no matter where you are! • The University follows all laws related to drugs and drug paraphernalia and will charge violations through the Code of Conduct. The misuse of prescription drugs is not tolerated! Safety First! Alcohol In The Residence Halls It’s your responsibility to seek medical attention for a fellow student in trouble. If you don’t, your friend could end up in a much worse condition and you could be charged with violating the Endangering the Safety of Others policy. • The University is not a “dry” campus, so, if you are 21 or older, you may have alcohol in the residence halls. However, the following limitations apply: o Any open containers must remain in the residence hall room. o Alcohol cannot be given to an underage person (including roommates). o You can't have a keg in the residence halls. • If you have a guest who is 21 or older but you are not of legal age, that guest cannot drink in the residence halls. SGA's Guide to the Code of Conduct Page 2 of 4 Alcohol at the University Football Stadium • If you are of age, you may have alcohol in the parking lot of the football stadium before games. However, kegs and drinking games are prohibited at all times. • Once the game begins, you may not bring alcohol into the stadium or continue to drink outside. Have You Heard? The Most common violation of the Disruptive Conduct Policy is Excessive Noise... Complicity • So, Keep it Down! You can’t actively or passively help anyone do anything that violates the Code of Conduct. If you do not remove yourself from the situation where violations are happening, you will get in trouble as well. Guests • If you have non-university guests who violate the Code of Conduct, even if you are unaware, you’ll be held accountable for their actions. Off Campus Conduct Find Something? Return lost Items to the Appropriate Office or To Public Safety. If you don’t it is a violation of the Theft Policy. • You can expect the University to take action if you are found guilty of a minor violation of the law or a charged with a major crime. • The University enforces the “good neighbor policy” What’s Not Allowed On Campus? Campus? • You can’t possess any of the following on campus even if you have a license that states otherwise: o Any kind of weapon, including BB guns, paint ball guns, and hunting knives o Fireworks of any kind SGA's Guide to the Code of Conduct Page 3 of 4 It’s About Social Responsibility! Hazing • The University does not allow hazing... So, what Qualifies as Hazing? o Verbal or physical abuse o Not allowing sufficient time to sleep or study o Requiring embarrassing actions (including the performance of public stunts and activities such as scavenger hunts) o Requiring participation in physical activities o For a complete list of what constitutes hazing see www.udel.edu/stuguide. Did You Know? It is Against the Code to Alter or Misuse a Parking Pass! Responsible Computing • The University does not allow illegal downloading or file sharing. For a list of legal downloading options, you should visit www.udel.edu/legaltunes. • It is your responsibility to be available through UD email and read your e-mail in a timely manner. • You are responsible for anything that your computer does on the University network. Disruptive Conduct • JUST DO IT! The most common violation of the Failure to Comply Policy happens when students don’t complete assigned sanctions. So, if you’re assigned to, say, attend an alcohol class, just do it! You should not do anything that will upset the orderly operation of the University. This includes: o Creating excessive noise o Public urination or nudity o Fighting Sexual Assault • Sexual assault occurs when a person is forced, coerced, or is physically unable to give consent; assault may be committed by an acquaintance or a stranger. • Violators will be charged both through the Code of Conduct and criminally. • For more information visit the Office of Women’s Affairs website at www.udel.edu/OWA Not So Extreme... You can use a skateboard on campus but only as transportation. so, ride it to class ... but no grinding! Sexual Harassment • The University does not allow sexual harassment or any sort of behavior or activity of a sexual nature that makes someone feel uncomfortable or intimidated, such as: o Touching anybody in an unwanted, sexual way o Making sexual comments if those comments degrade an individual o Displaying a picture, or object that is sexual in nature in any way in a public area such as a hallway or a residence hall. Academic Honesty • Don’t plagiarize. Make sure you always give proper citation to your sources. Remember to cite direct quotes, as well as ideas and concepts you get from sources! • Don’t fabricate your work. You shouldn’t make up things and claim that they are from viable sources or alter works such as lab reports. • Don’t cheat. Cheating can include copying, unauthorized collaboration, and misuse of electronic instruments such as cell phones and “clickers”. • Don’t commit academic misconduct.
